As Release Manager you will be responsible for managing our software development lifecycle and the pathway to final product release. The Release Manager will work closely with development teams, their work stream Project Manager, Test/QA and Operations teams to ensure the smooth deployment of software releases, including coordinating pre and post deployment activities.
The Release Manager organizes and manages sprint based release candidates, ensuring they have met stringent release and regression criteria prior to delivery to Production services.
Within the first 30 days and beyond you will be expected to:
Plan, manage and aggregate Releases in line with our strategic product roadmap.
Create and maintain a Program level release schedule complete with major and minor releases
Collaborate with Product, Business and Development leads to build a mature backlog.
Work with program manager to define major 2016/17 milestones and align the release schedule appropriately
Validate that all release components have been tested thoroughly in pre-production environments and are all approved for release by the technical, product, and executive teams.
Produce and distribute release documentation to stakeholders prior to any release (i.e. customer care, etc.)
Assist the program manager; build regular status reports to keep all relevant stakeholders up-to-date on all release activities
Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
Project Management certification (Agile, Prince2, PMP)
Past experience working in software configuration management
Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communications skills;
Track record of driving results in collaborative, cross-functional environments with little instruction or oversight;
Experience in a digital media, telecoms, broadcast, or consumer software environment, particularly VOD or Pay TV
Strong communication skills and demonstrable ability to plan, prioritise and manage projects effectively
Ability to work under pressure against rapidly changing deadlines or priorities
Confident and engaging with internal stakeholders and external customers/suppliers, with ability to establish rapport and credibility quickly and effectively
An interest and insight into how consumers use and consume digital media products
Media and Entertainment experience
